Nah… even though all of those things just piss me off, and every day seems like there is some other ineptitude from our government that makes my blood boil… I’ve decided to not use my blog as a means of bitching about the government… plus, who knows what kind of list I’ll be placed on, and I won’t get to fly somewhere when I want to.

So… what should I post about. That is the question almost every blogger I know struggles with. While I’m pretty open about my life (read some of my archived material where I tell you everything I eat, how much I weight, etc.), but there are certainly parts of my life that I’m quite secretive about.

I have a friend that has been blogging about her divorce and her subsequent “mid-life crisis” and I realized that I never mentioned my divorce or anything that has to do with “relationships” in my blog. This is a pretty sore subject for me, because frankly, I suck at them.

But I think I’ll start opening up about that stuff in the next coming weeks. I really don’t want my parents to know, but I’m fairly sure that since I live with them (yes, I’ll get into that as well), they already know.

But don’t worry, these frozen iguanas will come back to life after the weather warms up a bit.

There shouldn’t be any secret that I’m pissed at how our new government is treating us. Democrats say, “We won the election, we wrote the bill..” Well, I’m sorry to tell you, but this is still my country too, and I will do what I can to keep you from destroying it in your attempt to have your “progressive” agenda implemented. 

I don’t know how many times I’ve sat in my office fuming over how the government seems to take the attitude of indifference. I’ve complained to everyone who will listen about how the Congress and the President can seemingly do whatever they want despite almost 50% opposition to their agenda. They are supposed to be representing EVERYONE, not just those that supported them during the last election.

I made the analogy that it would be like going to the grocery store to buy milk, and when you get to the counter, instead of paying $2 like everyone else, you have to pay $3 because you make more. Fair?

When you hear the term “rich” most people invision some fat-cat Wall Street guy in a suit smoking a cigar in the back of a club drinking aged scotch.. Its easy to vilify “the rich” because you don’t see them as the guy next door, or the couple that has been frugally saving and investing their hard earned paychecks and have built up a fairly good income.. While I personally don’t make over $250k a year, I certainly don’t think it is way out of the realm of possibility that I could someday make that much…

Anyway… then I came home, and saw this video of Barney Frank, a “congressional leader”:

For some reason, a “rich” guy saying that there are plenty of other rich folks that they could be taxing is quite a scary concept.

These are going to be the guys running this country when/if Barack Obama is elected President…

Wonderful.

Now, let me explain myself. I watched her speech at the Republican Convention, and I really liked what she had to say. But over the last couple of weeks, even I have been using the, “I can see Russia from my house.” line… Its funny, and considering the panning she had been getting in the press, I had lost a lot of my respect for her. She has not looked like the woman that showed up at the convention, and seriously looked like a deer in the headlights. It was my contention that the McCain handlers have been trying to script her every word, and it was ruining the charm that Sarah Barracuda had coming out 5 weeks ago.

But all I can say is that she really did a great job during the debate tonight… was she perfect? No. Did she do herself and the McCain campaign good? Absolutely.

What gets me excited about this is that the talking heads at MSNBC and CNN are all talking about how she failed to differentiate herself and her campaign from President Bush… That she didn’t win the debate… But the thing these guys don’t get, is that she wasn’t talking to them. She was talking directly to the voters.

Among political junkies in the liberal mainstream media, she will never measure up to their golden child, Obama… but among the regular people (who’s opinion REALLY counts) I think she made a definate good impression.
