“Expect delays of 10 to 60 minutes…”

“… due to an accident not involving the train.”

That was the announcement that was heard about an hour ago while waiting for the evening train. I’m currently waiting along with probably 50-75 other commuters as we wait for word on when the train will arrive.

I miss the train…

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Driving sucks. I enjoy my vehicle, and I don’t mind driving, but after using the train for the past 2 months, I’ve gotten used to not having to worry about driving in the mornings.

As you know from my previous post, my son is visiting this month, and it has drastically effected my morning commute.

Instead of taking the train to work, now I have to drive. So thats a good 1.5 hours on the road in the morning. So we both have to wake up around 6am, just to get out of the house by 7am. Drive for about an hour, to get to the YMCA, and then another half hour to get from the YMCA to work. I’ve only had to do it for 2 days so far, and its killing me.

I never thought I’d say this, but I wish the train stopped near the YMCA… I miss it.

Last commuter standing…

I’m pretty sure that I could take most of the people that ride my train. If you put me in the Thunderdome, I truly believe that I would come out victorious. Its not that there aren’t any tough guys, or that it wouldn’t be difficult, but I think given a chainsaw, I could be pretty competitve if my life was on the line. Plus, I’m just crazy like that.

And yes, this is the type of thing I think about with commuting. Sometimes I even scare myself… but then the voices tell me that it will be ok. :-D

Train report: slow moving

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Today the train is moving quite slow. Apparently there is a train ahead of us having mechanical difficulties, which makes every other train behind it slow. I don’t know why this suprises me, but it does.

On a side note, I am posting this from the tri-rail train to West Palm Beach on my Samsung Blackjack Smartphone (AT&T). Isn’t technology great?

Train Tales Part 1

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Now that I’m gainfully employed again, I have started taking the train to work. This is generally a painless exercise, I get up at around 6am to make it to the train by 6:55am. This usually gets me into work around 8:15am. I then take the train home at 4:45pm and get home by 6:10pm. I can’t really complain, as it would cost me twice as much to drive to work, and take me just as long.

Periodically, I will be telling my tales from the train. There are loads of stories and experiences, and maybe I’ll throw in a picture or two when I can.
