Dirty Rotten Singles…

I’ve been single now for about 2 years… And have kind of gotten used to my “singles” lifestyle. No, I don’t mean the drinking, partying, and other such stereotypes you might be thinking. I grew out of that long ago (well, atleast some of it anyway). What I’m really talking about is living alone. When you put something down, it stays there. Nobody picks it up and moves it. This works great for drinks and keys, but terrible for dirty clothes and dishes.

The worst part about that is that over time, the dirty clothes and dishes pile up, and it gets harder and harder to maintain a nice home. You get piles of stinky clothes, bugs, and funky food smells. Suffice it to say, over the years, I’ve gotten used to either picking up after myself, or just leaving it in the corner. I tend to be the type of person that will let things pile up, until I get sick of it, and then will spend a weekend cleaning.

From what I’ve been able to figure out, the key to keeping a clean house is to not let things pile up. The more that things pile up, like papers, clothes or dishes, the harder it is to motivate yourself to clean them up. It also requires more of a time commitment to clean up a big mess, than it does to tackle those messes before they become big. So, I need to keep saying to myself, “stop procrastinating and get to cleaning!”
